14th Annual Earth Day Celebration
Come honor your Mother (Earth) at our 14th
Annual Earth Day Celebration - on Sunday, April 27th, from 10:00 am to
5:00 pm! Bring family and friends to hear Native American
storytelling, music, and to meet 60 resident education birds of 33
different species. Look behind the scenes at our wildlife
rehabilitation facility, take part in family activities, enjoy
refreshments courtesy of local merchants, enter raffles with lots of
outstanding prizes, and listen to beautiful acoustic music filtering
through the woodland setting. Don’t miss this unique day of fun
at your community nature center! Admission donation $3 for adults, $2
for children. Shuttle service courtesy of City of Eugene’s
Recreation Department every 15 minutes from 12:00 noon on from Spencer
Butte Middle School parking lot.
And, members! Don't forget the special members-only preview
event Saturday evening - with food catered by Capella Market.
Invitations to our local members have been mailed - let us know if you

Great horned owlet re-nested
Thanks
to an alert property owner, a young great horned owl was found out of
the nest last weekend. Thanks to Scott Altenhoff, an arborist, it was
quickly reunited with sibling and parents.

Remembering Artemus
Artemus, our wonderful male barn owl, died earlier this month of
congestive heart failure. He was 17 years old and had been on
heart medications for over six months. He was a wonderful foster
dad despite being separated from his own parents at an early age, was
developmentally disabled, and was an amazing educator. He leaves
big shoes to fill and will be missed by many.

Easy Ways to Support the Cause
Just a reminder that there are several easy, cost-free ways to support
us. Especially in times of economic uncertainties, the following
ideas can help us without cost to you.
GoodSearch is an internet search engine that contributes pennies
for every search; and GoodShop, igive.com, BuyforCharity.com, and
MyCause.com are internet shopping portals with hundreds of online
stores that contribute a small percentage of your purchase price to the
charity of your choice. Online shopping can help you find the
best bargains, and help us at the same time. If we all work
together, we can continue to provide care for the birds and education
to thousands!
