Heartfelt Thanks!
We send our thanks to everyone who receives our e-newsletter - and
to those many others for whom we do not have an email address - for
helping us through a challenging year! Your generosity has been
amazing - it truly brings tears to our eyes! Some of you -
our ‘family’ - had to cut back your contributions, and some were able
to increase them. We heard from some people for the first time in
a couple of years and we added a number of wonderful new
members. Our thoughts go out to those from whom we did not hear
this year, in hopes that they are weathering the economic storm.
This was a record year for us in many ways, from your generous
outpouring of support, to the number of volunteers and the over
20,000 hours they contributed, to the leap in hospital admissions
(40% jump over our 18-year average), and the extreme weather, from
July’s heat wave to December’s deep freeze.
As we start our 20th anniversary year, my personal gratitude is boundless. Cascades Raptor Center is a community
nature center, created, sustained and nourished with the help of
hundreds of supporters, volunteers, staff and community members who
have gotten us where we are today, creating an organization helping
wildlife in need and helping our human community make that critical
connection with nature that helps us all live a richer life.
Over all, a huge heartfelt thanks for including wildlife in general and
our raptors in particular within the embrace of your compassion.
You truly bring the light of kindness and hope to what can be a scary
world.
May all the season's blessings continue into the new
year - from staff (Louise, Laurin and Kit), the Board, and the
birds that grace our lives!
May 2010 bring positive steps toward peace and prosperity for each of us and the world.
