December 2007

Hi everyone! Just a quick note before the end of the year to say THANK YOU to everyone who has played a part in our last twelve months: coming to visit, bringing a school group, inviting us to your classroom, making a contribution, finding a bird, volunteering, or just appreciating the nature that surrounds us and taking steps to help preserve it. Our world depends on you!

Our annual print newsletter will be going out this week to everyone for whom we have a regular mail address - with lots of news, case studies, background information on new education birds and more in those 20 pages! And, just FYI, we're hoping to find a vehicle for our enewsletter that will allow me, the complete non-techie, to include photos... when I rely on our generous volunteer web-master, the newsletters are gorgeous but don't get out as often or are as timely, since I'm usually late getting them to him. NEW EDUCATION BIRD: Here's a sneak preview of a new eagle joining our flock: Denali, an adult bald eagle, originally from Kodiak Island in Alaska! She was injured as a first year bird, spent a year undergoing physical therapy at Bird Treatment & Learning Center in Anchorage, but could never completely extend her right wing. She has been at Wind over Wings in Connecticut since 2000 and we are delighted to be adding a glove-trained bald eagle to our education team later this month.

HOLIDAY GIFT IDEAS: Many of us are busy with our holiday shopping this time of year and/or considering to whom to make our year-end charitable contribution. I just wanted to let you all know what WE have going on so you, your family, and friends can consider including us in your holiday giving or holiday shopping! Here are some great options!

The Challenge Grant
To prepare for the challenging growth of 2008, CRC has secured a Challenge Grant of $20,000! This means that any donation received before the end of the year will be matched by one of our generous donors, up to $20,000! Each donation to Cascades Raptor Center between now and the end of the year will have double the impact!

Please spread the word to friends and family! Let them know that they can support the work that YOU do by making a tax deductible financial gift!
